Firsts and the 22nd!!!!!!!!!

Hi There….

I can’t wait to share some pretty cool stuff with you….

First of all… My website has been hit by over 51 countries…  Can you believe that? There are 191 countries on this planet… so this is a nice start!!!!!

I decided to make this a year of firsts…….

Which leads too……One week from today…..next Thursday, January 22nd, I will be singing in Atlanta, GA at Smith’s Olde Bar in the Atlanta room at 8:00pm,  with a musician I have never performed with before!!!!  One of my goals this year is to work with different musicians.    I think as an artist I need to experiment to grow……  So I have been in the lab mixing up some interesting compounds……  and I believe you will enjoy the concoction that this chemical reaction will make…….  Personally I think it is smoking……  in a beautiful way…… (smile)  If you didn’t understand that…..  I am going to perform several new songs that evening with my new friend and accompanist Matthew Smith!!!!!!!!  I am so excited and just can’t wait to share some new songs with you!  The hardest part for me about being a songwriter is that I just want to record and sing all my new songs…..  but I still got to nurture the old songs!!!!!!!!!!!  It’s like giving birth!!!!  A lot of work taking care of the babies!!!!!!!

Which leads to another first…..I have been taking A LOT of guitar lessons and am really trying to make that guitar sound beautiful…..  I have always written everything on my piano and guitar, but have not been able to make my hands work as well as my voice……. So I have always had other people play my songs for me……   This year at some point, Maybe the 22nd,  I am going to take the stage and accompany myself, and just go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (smile)  Not all my songs…..  just a few……  I love working with other people too much to want to do it alone….

Which Leads too…….  One of the greatest things that has happened…..
I was reconnected with an old friend that I have known for almost my whole life!  This friend is an entertainment lawyer, and has started helping me!!!!!!!   We are having a lot of fun….. We have some BIG surprises we are working on!!!!!!  Hopefully I will tell you about them soon!!!!!!

Lastly, Another Goal I have this year, continued from last year……. is to go on tour and open for someone REALLY super!!!!!(smile)  So if all works out…….  I will come play in your neck of the woods soon!!!  If you can help make that goal a reality……  please contact me!!!!!!

I am going to start a contest right now!!!!!!!!!!   If you do something really cool for the first time…..  send me a picture or email me…….  At the end of the year I am going to write a song about someone’s wildest “first”……. Won’t that be interesting!!!!!!!!  Ummmmmmmm……….  It is going to be an awsome song…… so please send me some very cool stories!!!!!!!!

With Thanksgiving coming up next week……. I’ve been thinking about what that means!

In April I went to Japan, and China……. Both countries taught me so much!!!!!!!!!!!! Tokyo is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been….. and I met the COOLEST musicians there!!!!!!!! Tokyo is just something you can’t even imagine, until you go!!!!!!! They really do eat A LOT of raw fish….. I like raw fish, but by the third day… I’de see a piece of fish in the window…… and I would get the shakes…. my whole body would shutter…. but by the 5th day…. I was all better!

After we left Japan, we went to China. China was COMPLETELY different from Japan!!!!!! Beautiful in it’s own way……… But it was Chaos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I got home from the trip……. I was just so thankful to be born in this country…… To be an American……. I’ve written a couple of songs about the trip. Someday I will share them with you. They will give you an idea of what I learned…… But until then, I wanted to share some of my photo’s from the trip with you! I just uploaded them this evening!!!!!!! If you go to my pictures you will see an Album titled Japan and China!!!!!!!! I hope you enjoy them!

Costumes Of Life!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight as the tricker treaters were coming and going, dressed in their costumes…… I thought how ironic the world was.

Everyday people wake up and dress to play their part for the day! The business man wears his suit, the post man wears his uniform, the nurse and doctors wear their scrubs. Everyone dresses to play their part in life. On Halloween, they dress to be scary, or to be the person they secretly wish to be, or to be anything but who they really are…….. I thought today, that an interesting Halloween would be, when everyone dressed in the reality of who they are. Wouldn’t that be something?

The Business man might be a monster…. The Chiropractor might be an angel, and the Plumber might be a savior!!!!!!!!!! This year has been a wild ride for me. I went to China, and stayed at the Ritz. One day I walked a block and opened a beautiful door and found HELL. Here at home I have found people dressed in the finest garb, only to find that beneath it all was another kind of hell! I turn the corner and BAM….. I see the truth! I’ve been writing a lot of songs lately about the things I’ve seen! About the truths…….

I dedicated my CD “Let It Go” to all the woman in the world searching for, and living their dreams… and all the men that support them. I felt compelled to make that dedication… not fully understanding why. In the last year, it has come to my attention why this CD needed to be dedicated to the woman of this world, and to those special men!

Tonight I am going to make a wish that people quit dressing up everyday…… quit putting on their costumes every day of the year…. Start representing the reality of who they truly are….. and if they don’t like what they see… They will change what is beneath their costume of lies!

I hope you have a Nice Halloween weekend… and TRY dressing as yourself today……. I hope you LIKE what you see! I can’t wait to share my new songs with you someday soon! I might need to call it “Costumes Of Life”….. Happy Halloween! I will go to sleep tonight, thankful for the people that are not creepy goblins dressed in beautiful garb!

Yea!!!!!! I’m A Featured Artist… Soooo much fun!!!!!!!

Yahooooooo………. REVERBNATION made me a FEATURED ARTIST on their homepage!!!!! They pick 10 artists a week, and rotate 3 every 3-4 minutes……. How cool is that!!!! I am hanging with Alison Krauss …. She is a featured artist as well! They are the greatest people who own that company…. and they give you the most incredible widgets to pass around. Last night when I was sad, I wrote a blog about starting down a new alternate route today ………. Then I made a bunch of lemonade with the lemons of my life….. and I drank it all morning! Then I got the letter from my friend at REVERBNATION, telling me they made me a featured artist!!!!!! I hope this is a good sign of things to come!!!!!!!!!!!!! They say when you close a door… a new one opens!!! I am sooooo Thankful to Big Daddy Angel… You know who you are!!!!!!!(smile) Also, if you read my blog…… I found a WHOLE bunch of info on the net about Alternate tunings!!!!!!!! Did you know there is a tuning called the SPIRIT, another one called The MAGIC FARMER and the one that cracks me up is called the BUZZARD!!!!! The BUZZARD is CFCGAF………. Open D and Lemonade

MMMMMMMMMM……I was REAL disappointed today. It takes a lot for me to get disappointed!!!!!! I was working on a song…… and in the midst of it…. a light bulb turned on in my head. The problem is……. the light bulb illuminated something I couldn’t or didn’t want to see before….. and now that I see it….. It is bad, bad, bad!!!!!!!!! I hate it when that happens! Bummer for me…. Now I have to make some changes!

Interestingly enough……… I was working on a song with an ALTERNATE tuning, when I became enlightened to the fact….. that I need to find an ALTERNATE route, to address my present disappointment! I found great comfort in this because……. if my new path sounds as beautiful as an open D tuning sounds….. In the end I will not feel this sad feeling I feel right now! I REALLY hate it when I have to learn something ugly!!!!!!

Sooooo if you are reading this…… maybe you could help me find some more tunings that will make me smile!!!!!!!!!!!!!If you can please send them too me, I would be grateful! I want to write a whole series of songs using these tunings, as I choose to find this new Alternate path! In the end I’ll have better music, and a better road to ride on!!!!!(smile) I am going to go make the best lemonade right now with all those ripe lemons…… I will be thirsty tomorrow on that long road into the unknown? Awe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow……. I have been so humbled tonight! Eddie booked me, to open for a guy named Willy Porter! I was scared to death! The house was packed! Not one empty seat! I got a little faint at the beginning… but after a few songs I got into my groove! I am starting to love this adrenaline rush you get from performing…………And I mean RUSH!!!!!!!!!!! UMMMMMM… I can’t really explain it….. accept for using the analogy of Christmas or Hannakah, or whatever special celebration your religion embraces……… You wait and wait for the day to come, and you don’t know what to expect………accept in the performing situation……. you get a present greater than you ever imagined!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Willy was just one of the most talented people I’ve ever heard…….. And to think that I got to open for him is just mind boggeling. He has gone on tour with Paul Simon. and Sting, Jethro Tull, Jeff Beck, and just a bunch of people……. You need to check him out! I am really just at a lost for words tonight!!!!!!!!!

I say that performing is like a christmas…..ect.., ect……….. because people connect with you in such an incredible way….. and you know that your life is better because of that moment you shared with them!!!!!!!!!!! Some of these folks you will never see again……They come up to you after the show and tell you their story…….. and you go home saying…. Thank you Universe for that moment in time!!!!!!!

This man approached me this evening. and told me that he came tonight, because he had heard “Love Will Follow You” on the Eddies website!!!!!!!! That alone meant the world to me…. But then after the show, he came over and told me this really touching story…….I just don’t know how I got so blessed to have shared this evening with such kind and beautiful people!

I really wish the Universe could come together and connect with each other as a whole, because I can’t even imagine the joy we would receive on this planet……. in celebrating that non-material gift! That gift of Connecting and of Love! No matter what happens in this economy…. Life is going to go on…. I hope you can find someone to connect with and love…… and not put your energy into fear of a material world you have no ability to control or predict!!!!!!!!!!!! Weather you have a penny in the bank, or a zero balance…… You still have the ability to connect….. and that is the most wonderful gift you can give… or RECEIVE!!!!!

For all of you who were at the show tonight….. Thanks for sharing that moment with me!

Lastly…. To Geoff Melkonian, who played guitar and sang back up with me……. Geoff thanks for supporting me…. and helping me drive this vehicle of music that gives me so much joy and purpose in life!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for visiting!!!!!!!!!

Tryin To Make Jimi Hendrix Proud!!!!

Isn’t it weird how a circumstance can change your life forever? And WHEN the circumstance is occurring…… you don’t even realize it! My life was changed forever during the last few months because of several things, and I had know clue that it was happening!!!!! First it started with a message on myspace from this man… He ended up becoming one of my teachers…. and a dear friend!

Most of the things that make me feel good are bad for me…… so I try not to do them……. But music is the one thing that feels better than almost ANYTHING… So I can REALLY enjoy it!!!! I feel so guilty that I am doing something, that is not giving me a reason to feel guilty….. The chords I’ve been learning are better than 100 creme brulee’s or 500 chocolate lava cakes. I just can’t explain it!!!!! I hope there is not some hidden badness that I just don’t know about, because that would be an unbearable disappointment!

Each week….I sit in this room decorated like the 60’s, with all these famous guitar greats on posters on the wall…. and I think how much fun I am having! Then I learn a new chord and it leads to another… and then before I know it …..the E7sharp9 becomes magic… and I almost forget to breath….. These blues chords, and jazz chords he’s teaching me aren’t in my books……. and they make you find a rhythm you didn’t know existed!!!!!!!!! I hope I can make Mr. Hendrix spirit proud!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wrote my new favorite song yesterday, and it uses 10 chords…….. I used to be a 3 chorder…. 4 if I was lucky! But not anymore!!!!!! How cool is that. Then as I find this new music, I’m finding this voice that sounds like me, but has so many more colors in it! My life really has been changed forever!!!!!!!!

The second thing that happened during the last several months was…… that I fell in love with a man named Taylor!!!!!!!! My guitar broke…… and I had to get a new one! He is so beautiful…… I never knew I could love an object this much!!!!!!! The way that Taylor sounds when I play my new chords, REALLY is an explosion of goodness! I actually pick that guitar up first thing, every morning when I wake up, just so I can hear him sing…. Even if for only a minute!

Last night I spent the evening under the stars, at a benefit concert for John Jarrard in Gainesville, GA! It was an incredible evening with wonderful music, supporting a very special man! As the main acts got up to play…… I heard this voice start singing…… It was the voice of Randall Bramblett!!!!!!!!! Man was it a treat to hear and watch him! The best part about listening to him, other than his amazing voice, was that I heard some of the chords I’ve been learning!!!!!!! I was tickled pink!!!!!! To think that I could hear the depth of color and pinpoint it was just enough to make me go crazy with excitement!!!!!

As I sit hear listening to the rain dance on my roof……… I just want to tell the world how thankful I am right now for the Jazz and Blues!!!!!!!!!! Especially for the ability to play a Hendrix E7sharp9…………. Thanks for visiting with me!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my Gosh….. There is a big OWL outside my window RIGHT this SECOND… For REAL….. It is beautiful…… I can’t believe it!!!!! Maybe it is an OMEN that I’m going to get even more wisdom and insight with these chord structures!!!!!! Who knows, but I got to go and get my camera!!!!!
