Album: Let It Go
Music & Lyrics: Alexis Vear
Secret: “One of my friends went through a rough time with her husband. They separated, and I wrote this song for her. When the song came to me….. I couldn’t figure out why I wrote the river Saint George. I talked to a friend who knows something about Saints. He said, “Saint George is the Saint of courage”. The myth is that Saint George battled a dragon in England long ago, killing the evil dragon with his sword, and saving all the towns people. I thought the story was pretty cool. I realized the song meant have the courage to let the things that hurt in this life, move right through your soul so you have a whole lot of room to love. Later the couple reunited. The husband wanted to hear the song. After listening, he asked his spouse if she told me about Saint George. She said, ”I don’t know what you are talking about”. He said “We went to Saint George on our honey moon 17 years ago”! I thought that was really, really cool!”

Don’t walk away from the pain
Don’t try to hide all your shame
It is all right for you to cry
Listen to the whispers in the night
Celebrate what’s good and right
Erase those shadows from your head
Chorus
Let it go, let it flow, let it move right through your soul
Let it go, let it flow, why don’t you let it go
Let it go, let it flow, let it move right through your soul
Let it go, let it flow, why don’t you let it go
To the river St. George
When you feel your pain
Love is what you’ll gain
Forgiveness is what you’ll find
Don’t let it eat you up inside
The whispers and shouts are what keep you alive
Just feel it and let it go ya ya ya ya
Chorus
